Cough medicine?

Ok so I’m 5 weeks today. My first apt is the 9th 
I have a cough and itchy throat. There is no real medication that is safe to take for that is there? Yes I will confirm with my doctor

When I was 8 weeks I had a really bad cold and also went in for my first appointment with my obgyn. She recommended that I try hot water with lemon and honey before I take any cough medicine or anything. Thankfully that worked for me but she said if it didn’t and I needed the medicine, just don’t use anything with DM in the name.
