Break up and getting back together: keep original anniversary date?

My boyfriend of almost 3 years in February broke up with me last week with no good reason other than he was overwhelmed with school and college/military stuff. We have decided to give it another try because he said he realized he messed up. If we end up getting back together is it wrong to keep the original date we started dating as our anniversary date? Or do we start over?

I really say it depends on how long you weren’t together for. I use to get so annoyed when people who would break up for months then keep the date. Then I ended up doing that with my husband when we dated we only broke it off for 3 days though.

Me and my partner were together for a year and a half, then split for 2 and a half months, and even though we was still sleeping together and telling each other we loved each other he did sleep with someone else when I left him, so I don't use my original date anymore, if he hadn't of slept with someone else I would of cause he was still with me too

depends on how long the split was I guess if it was less than a month (might be stretching it) you can keep the old one. my bf and I broke up for about a week to settle this hard time we were going through, and we kept our original date since everything turned back to normal.

Yes keep the date, if it was 3 months that you guys were separated than obviously the new date but one week thats barely being separated.
