Okay so a month ago from today I started birth control. I took all the brown pills then all the white ones. I finished all 28 yesterday. I hadn’t started my period and thought that maybe I just wasn’t getting one. No. I started today and just ordered in a refill. Do I keep taking the brown ones or do I wait until I’m done?

keep taking them as you normally would. do not skip pills, even between packs. you need to take a pill everyday, at the same time. when your placebos end, make sure you have your new pack ready to go so you can continue without interruptions.

I had a hard time comprehending this for some reason when I started my pills, so let me try to explain this in a simple way.
You start a pack of pills usually on a Sunday (if not, it's fine.). Your first pack of pills of course lasts a month, but with hormones, it can take up to 5 packs before your period aligns with your pills. 
You start with, in your case, brown pills, and obviously take one a day at generally the same time. When you hit your placebos (sugar pills/fake pills), it means you're ending your pack, but let me compare this to some books.
If you're reading a book and read one page a day exactly, but by the end of the month haven't finished the book, you wouldn't go back and reread everything, only to start over every month, would you? Nope. So basically, when you get your pill pack, and you finish it, act like your next pill on your next pack is a page. One page a day. No stopping, no starting over.
