20 weeks pregnant- should I get this puppy? No current animals and he is at a shelter😭

I got a puppy when my daughter was 6 months old. Keep in mind that they're puppies until around age 1.5. Mine is almost 1 and still has accidents sometimes, and still doing naughty puppy things like chewing, playing rough sometimes etc (this is 2nd dog, so I'm experienced with training). Once baby is born, your fur baby will be demoted (it happens) and you'll have less tolerance for puppy behavior, especially when you're sleep deprived. The worst thing you can do is get the puppy, end up having a hard time training it consistently or simply end up not liking the dog and bringing it back to the shelter in a few months. So I say wait and see how you feel AFTER you have a baby, unless you're 100% committed to dealing with the good, the bad and the ugly of training a puppy while you have 3rd trimester aches and pains, a newborn and sleep deprivation.

Adopting a puppy that you can train and grow with your baby is the wisest route. Adult shelter dogs and babies/kids do NOT mix. We have personally experienced this. I won't go into details, but if you're going to get a dog, and it's going to be a shelter dog, YES! Go with a puppy like this!

100% true. Ciara was an AMAZING dog from a shelter. Everyone loved her. She just decided to nip at my 6 year old at the time (been years)... I REFUSE TO GET AN ADULT SHELTER DOG, AS YOU DO NOT EVER, EVER TRULY KNOW THEIR HISTORY. MY CHILDREN ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN A DOG.

You may 'strongly disagree' and that's fine. YOU DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS BEST. As for MY family, I will not take the risk. Thank you! 
(Son is scarred and dog was put down. How is that EVER a good thing?) Leave the adults for single people, elderly or childless couples in my opinion. Just think what would have happened if he was a newborn. 
AND NO- HE DID NOT HURT HER- I WAS SITTING RIGHT THERE BESIDE THEM.

UPDATE: thank you for all of the comments! My family has gotten nothing but shelter dogs and had no problem with them.
I GOT THE PUPPY. But not for my husband and I. My dad passed away a year ago Monday and my 17 year old sister was dying for a dog

and after a lot of talking we adopted little Oliver for my sister!!

Absolutely NOT true about shelter dogs- shelter dogs can be incredible! You just need to be educated about the breed and it's specific temperament. I've had the most loving pets as a result of adopting from shelters and my partner and I plan to adopt a 1-2 year old dog from our nearby shelter before baby is born. Good luck mama!

We adopted a baby Rottweiler that my family found outside in a ditch, she was no more than 6 months old and I had a baby brother who was about the same age. The grew up together and became best friends I have always heard getting any baby pet when your pregnant or when the kids a super young will bond them better .

He's super cute, I'm not sure . Taking on a pup while pregnant is brave. I personally wouldn't but I have three large breed dogs and two kids so I couldn't fathom adding anything other than this baby in 7 months.
