looking for advice

ok so before I post in the official miscarriage forum, I wanted to post here first just to see if anyone had a similar experience. I'm currently.. well supposed to be 8 weeks and days today. I went in for my ultrasound and my baby was measuring two weeks behind, so six weeks and had no heartbeat. The technician was really sweet and said that maybe my dates were just off (which I doubt but we were tracking ovulation soooo who knows). My OB is awesome and didn't say outright that I miscarried but definitely is preparing me for that possibility. I've had no cramps, bleeding or anything that would have indicated a miscarriage. I haven't been nauseous but I also didn't get sick with my daughter when I was pregnant with her either. I'm scheduled for another ultrasound next week to confirm either way. My fiance doesn't want to believe it and is convinced that we just got our dates wrong. Part of me just has a feeling the baby is gone. Has anyone else experienced something similar with a positive outcome? I know the chances of that are pretty low but who knows, anything is possible!
