when to give baby toys?

what age do you start giving your LO little toys to look at & feel? & what are the first "toys"? he's 3 weeks today & my step mom asked me what toys he's been able to "focus" on So now I feel like I'm doing something wrong. 😳

Books are always good to look at and listen to. Anything is colourful and/or make noise is a good choice. Music helps to develop the brain and it is good for emotional well being too. Even tho your little one is young, that does not mean the baby only needs to sleep and poop. Any activity is great for a couple of minutes.  At this age babies can not focus on one thing for more than a couple of minutes. Do massages and sing songs. You can use little puppets as you sing or show picture of you and your so.

my SO is ready to buy our son friggin Legos and he's not even here yet soooo... hahaha. they have cheap rubber play mats on amazon.  and lots of rattles and kick & play mats by fisher price.

At 3 weeks they can't do much. A play mat might be nice for him or one of those tummy time mats.

Our play mat had dangling toys, wasn’t really interested in anything until the 6 month mark, but nice little rattles are good, and teether toys too
