What do you think is best, or prefer?

i was thinking about birthing our child naturally, but after hearing opinions from different people, i dont know what to think anymore. my gynecologist said if i wanted to birth naturally, he will be inducing me at 38 weeks, no matter if the baby is healthy or not even though i told him that's not what i want at all

please tell me what you prefer and why

But why ? What’s his reasoning? If he literally just wants to just because I’d find a new doctor. If it’s not medically necessary he does not need to push that on you at all.

Uh, I'd get a different doctor tbh. A baby should only be induced due to complications or size, not gestation; find a doctor who agrees with natural births, and will let you do things the way you want to.

I had an induction, but it was not my first choice and there were medical reasons why we chose to induce. An induction when your body isn't ready can be difficult as you're working against the body. My induction was intense and extremely painful. Any early interventions increases the chance of further interventions such as forceps, vacuum or caesarean. If your OB wants an induction/ceasarean at 38wks, he should give you an explanation as to why he wants to do that. Especially when you've stated that you'd prefer a natural childbirth

I had a c-sec with my first but hoping for a vbac this time so I can recover faster and reduce infection risks, etc.
Your doc sounds like he's in a rush and you should look at a new one.
Induction and c-secs (in my opinion) shouldn't be done unless medically necessary. The best option for birthing is typically;
Natural Birth
Scheduled c-sec
Emergency c-sec
Just remember that c-secs are major abdo surgery and can limit you later in regards to natural birthing of subsequent children. The recovery time is also longer and can be harder on the body.

Hell to the no. I would tell this asshat off, file a complaint and get a new doctor. 38 weeks isn’t even considered full term anymore (that’s now 39). A due date can also be off by 2 weeks either way, so in theory he could be trying to force your baby to come at 36 weeks! That is completely immoral, irresponsible and unethical. Inductions put stress on you and your baby which can often lead to other interventions, including c sections. Of course, sometimes they are necessary, but to do that for no reason other than his convenience is horrible. I don’t know why someone would choose a c section unless there was a reason to do so, but that’s just my opinion. What isn’t an opinion, is c sections are major surgery and healing can be very long. Not to mention that unless you find a VBAC-friendly provider for future pregnancies (if you have more children), you’ll likely be forced into another c section....

I would be asking more questions to find out exactly why your dr wants to induce you at 38 weeks. If it isn’t medically necessary, I would not be okay with being induced early. As far as c-section vs vaginal birth, I would do whichever was going to be safest for baby and myself.

I'm so shocked to see everyone saying that natural birth is their preference when I haven't been able to find more than 3 natural birth stories? If natural birth is so important to you, why are most opting out. I get that it's extremely painful, but if you really think that is the best thing for you and your baby why are there not more natural birth stories on here?? I'm not trying to be a B, I am truly curious. My husband and I are huge advocates for natural birth and want to know what it is we should be prepared for that is turning all of these mom's away from following through with natural birth.
