can a midwife put you on best? if so does that affect your short term disability /fmla? i have a highly stressful job and sitting at my desk all day is causing me pain. not sure i will be able to handle this up until i deliver.

Bedrest is only issued if your pregnancy is in danger. They won't issue it because you have pain or your uncomfortable. They may request a modification eg allow you to sit more or more unpaid breaks, but your employer is not required to comply.

If you're high risk enough that your midwife is thinking of putting you on bedrest, you might want to consider getting a second opinion from an OB...

I don't know about short term disability but yes you can use fmla time if put on bedrest.

Depends on the short term disability you have, when we started trying to get pregnant I changed my policy so it would cover as many things as possible. 
If my understanding of FMLA leave is correct, bed rest would eat into your 12 weeks of guaranteed leave (I HAVE to use my sick leave and FLMA leave concurrently which blows so once my 12 weeks are up they’re up😑)  so if you were put on a month of bed rest you would only have 8 weeks remaining for maternity leave.

Short term disability only kicks in once you run out of sick leave. You can only obtain FMLA if you have worked a full year at your current job. FMLA is 12 weeks and like the other poster said if you use a month on bed rest then you would only have 7/8 weeks maternity leave.

Bring a yoga ball for an alternate chair. Being uncomfortable isn’t a reason for bed rest.

My job will not accept medical notes from my midwife so I need to get my midwife to write me a letter that I then take to my family doctor who will write a note based on my midwifes recommendations
