When do most people get ultrasounds?

I just found out I was pregnant on the 10th. My last period was November 7th so I’m 4ish weeks pregnant. I’m going to get my pregnancy confirmed from a free clinic because 1. Why pay when they both do the same thing? 2. I’m still under my moms insurance since it goes until 26 years old and hers is better so if I go to the doctor she will know and I want to wait until 12 weeks
However, they also give you a free ultrasound to check on the pregnancy after a confirmed test. I was thinking of going in 2 weeks so I will be around 6 weeks. Can you even really see anything then? Like a fetal pole? Or even a baby?

I’m on my parents insurance until I’m 26 (currently 22) and I was terrified to go to the doctor for my pregnancy. I ended up telling them around 8 Weeks and they told me all the stuff I’d need to take to fill out info. Not the reaction I was expecting 😂 but I didn’t go to an OB until I was 12 Weeks

Just came from my first appt with the nurse and they scheduled me for 8 weeks. They said they do the first one between 7-10 weeks.

The free clinic in my area would do a pregnancy confirmation then schedule you for a ultrasound for when you were 9-11 weeks. Check yours out to make sure how they break down the confirmation and ultrasound. I didn't get my first ob ultrasound until 12 weeks 5 days. But I has already seen my baby once at the er and once at the free clinic

In general, people in the USA tend to get one 8-12 weeks, but a lot only get one at 20w (anatomy scan). Some women get more due to extenuating circumstances (other health issues). Also depends on what your insurance will pay for, although you can get as many as you like if you pay out of pocket.

I’m lucky. I saw the yolk sac at 5 weeks. My next two ultrasounds were at 9, and 13 weeks. The 13 week ultrasound was 3D and I didn’t even realize it until later. My next ultrasound will be at 17 weeks. My OB does them at every appointment.

I had one at my first appointment, which was only a pre-screening with a nurse at 9 weeks. I had a second one when I saw my OB for the first time at 13 weeks.
