Membrane sweeps so early???

Why on earth are people getting membrane sweeps at like 37 or 38 weeks? Why wouldn’t you just wait to see if your baby comes since you’ve got like 2-3 weeks left?

Sometimes it’s for medical reasons and other times it’s likely people don’t know or understand the potential implications of inducing labour. I did it with my first at 39 weeks but will wait for baby to come on his or her own this time around.

Sometimes for completely valid health reasons, sometimes because they’re getting impatient. I’ve heard of women doing the absolute most to get the baby out at 37 weeks even when it’s not necessary for medical reasons. I don’t understand the impatience, but I’m one of those that wants the baby to cook as long as possible because that’s what is healthiest and best for baby so long as their are no complications. Regardless, not your (or my place) to question or judge anyone else. My advice is to keep stuff like this to yourself, I do!

I had mine stripped today . I am 38 weeks. I am possibly being induced next week. Can anyone share some light on the stripping of membranes? I am a first time mom .

Mine was done at 37 weeks due to baby’s weight, my blood pressure on the rise, reduced fetal movements.. if I could wait I would do.. it’s not worked any how 😫
