Lactose intolerance ADVICE PLEASE
Okay so my first born is completely lactose intolerant it comes from dads side of the family. All the way through pregnancy I could not handle any milk. And it was all I craved. I was sick until the point I gave birth. Well any way this time round I’m the same. I’ve only stopped being sick once I stopped drinking cows milk. I’ve had to go on a complete lactose free diet. Husband and first is already on this diet so it’s not too bad. The gp prescribed me folic acid and iron tablets and I began being sick again after taking the them. Turns out they have lactose in the tablets. My question is should I just start baby off on lactose free formula from birth to stop all the switching and changing. I remember how much pain my first was in before her diagnosis and I’d rather avoid unnecessary pain. Swapping from breast to bottle-Formula to formula. I can’t afford to take my full maternity and I’ve had to take early maternity this time round so I’m probably going to be back in work between 6-8weeks of giving birth. I need to make sure baby is settled before I go back to work. I work really long hours. I’m gone 24hrs at a time. It will be hard enough leaving baby so young without worrying about them being poorly. I feel like this time round I can do things differently and avoid it all. Anyone been through the same or have any advice? My next midwife appointment isn’t till after Christmas.
