Unable to conceive due to long periods and no ovulating

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 6 months now. Yesterday I had to go to the obgyn to have a check up done because I’ve been bleeding continuously since October 30th 2017. He took blood, to check my Thyroid levels, and he also did a exam on me. Did a PG test (negative). Told me that everything is normal. (still waiting in the blood work to come back) He prescribed me MedroxyProgesterone 10 mg. 1 a day for 10 days. Today is my second day on it and happily I have stopped bleeding(so far). He said I should stop bleeding with this medication and he said that should put me to having a period on Christmas.

I’m just curious to know if anyone else has been on this med and if it did help them, how long was it before you conceived?
