Average waist size?

What is the average waist size, do you think? My husband was talking about me to a friend who makes clothes, and said, "but remember she has a small waist." I had to be taped yesterday for the military, and the nurse also said that I have a small waist. I actually don't think I do. It's 27". I am clearly overweight, since I had to be taped in the first place. My husband asked me what measurements I'd like to see on my body, and I said a 24" waist. He wanted to know if I even knew what that looked like. Well... no. But it sounded good. Lol
