Will we take technology too far?

Question

As we all know we are constantly evolving with new technology to make our everyday lives easier. Online shopping, paying with our phones instead of cash or card, replacing hard books with tablets, self checkout lanes, the microchip that’s supposed to be our only access to anything, and many more examples. 
Some of this is helpful, but are we going to get to a point where we take technology too far? And by too far I mean like will we get to where everyday living activities can and will be done with the push of a button like in the movie Wall-E? 
It may seem like a stretch lol, but I really believe in some years we may be pretty close to being robots 😟

I figure we won’t, people in the 80’s thought we’d live in a world with everything digital and that you press a button for food. Realistically we don’t move that fast. It is also down to what companies believe the consumer wants. Technology makes our lives so much easier and I’m glad it’s evolving but we certainty wouldn’t be at that point in my life time.

I’m probably in the minority in that I love technology. 
I don’t understand why people think technology makes us communicate less. If anything, it’s the opposite.
If it wasn’t for Facebook, I wouldn’t have reconnected with some family members or friends. I’ve been able to FaceTime with people in other states. Even my friends that live in my city, I feel like we talk more because of texting. I can send them a text and we talk about our days while we’re at work or wherever. If we were in the 80s, I doubt I’d be able to call 5 different friends while I’m at work, lol. 
And last but not least, we are all here, having these debates because of technology.

We literally don't have to speak to another human anymore. I can text, order online, shit, I can even order my egg mcmuffin with cheese without speaking to a single soul. I worry about my 4 yr old son being able to have a decent conversation with people. in some ways advanced technology is amazing, in some ways it puts us each in a bubble.

I didn’t think so, and then I learned that a robot has now been given legal citizenship and that scares the shit out of me. How can a ‘person’ that has been made out of metal and wires, be considered as equal and important as all of us humans who were born on to this planet? I’m not against experimentation and learning from technology but I feel it’s so unnecessary to create a robot like that and a very dangerous move to give it citizenship and to be able to be held in the same regard as real, living people. That robot has more rights than my pets and other animals in general. That worries me.

Well. Technology will continue to advance. Artificial Intelligence will continue to be created and advanced. Very intelligent scientists have warned us about AI. It’s not a big deal to me, though.

I think I'm one of the very few who hopes they live so long they get to be able to dump their brain into a cyborg body or upload their conciousness to the Net. Because that would be SO cool.
