Carters clothes-what's the deal?
Okay I absolutely adore almost every outfit by Carters. They just make some of the cutest baby clothes! However.... what's with these sizes??! My daughter is 6 mos, 19.5 lbs, 27 inches long. In most brands (Garanimals from Wal mart, and "onesie" brands) she wears 6-9 months snugly and 12 months with a little wiggle room. This being said we mostly put her in 12 month clothes. She's a pretty big baby girl, rocking the 91st percentile for weight and height right now.
However... Carters seems to have it all wrong. Yesterday I had to put a size 12 outfit from Carters in her "clothes too small going to storage" bag because the pants were so tight I couldn't bare the though of her trying to move in them. They were sweatpants too, so they should be stretchy and comfy right? They were tighter than I would be comfortable with myself and I love me some skinny jeans.
So this morning I get her dressed and I grab one of my favorite carters onesies with matching pants. Outfit has little deers all over it and the pink matching pants have the footies in them that look like little deer. A-DORRRRR-ABLE. I check the tag after she's already wearing it thinking "she's had this outfit for a lot longer than most of her clothes... what size is this darn thing?"
It's a size 6 month. So same brand, really screwed up sizing. We have other Carters brand outfits that she's wearing right now. Some 6 month and some 12 month. But that outfit with the sweats isn't the only size 12 months Carters outfit that's too small, but then how could she still fit into any Carters brand 6 month clothes?!
End of the day: my baby has clothes and that's what's most important but how can you ever know what size to buy when the same brand doesn't have the same sizing across the board for their own clothes? Are we expected to take them in the dressing room and change their outfits over and over in the store cuz we all know that's the main ingredient for a fussy baby!
Glad I mostly buy Wal-Mart brands 😂 she's been wearing sweats and sweatshirts I got there for 2 straight months and has room to grow still!
