Could it be time?

Question

Currently, 36 weeks 5 days and having really uncomfortable and long contractions about every five minutes. Waiting until they get really intense or my water breaks before going in. Have had lots of cramping and pelvic pressure. Was 2 cm dilated, 75% effaced, and doc could feel her head at my last appointment on Thursday, after being a “high, thick, but soft 1 cm” on Monday. Hoping I’ve progressed and will see my little girl soon!

Thanks ladies! I’ve been dealing with preterm contractions for a couple weeks now, and went in for two false alarms last week. My contractions are not Braxton Hicks, as these are regular, timetable and uncomfortable, they just don’t cause me to dilate each hour. Also, baby is measuring 5 weeks ahead (according to fundal and ultrasound measurements-i know this doesn’t mean much because these can be inaccurate, but she is definitely a good weight) so doc is comfortable with me delivering early if I go naturally. I also got the series of steroid shots for baby’s lungs this week, so she has the best chance of being a big, healthy girl at just under 37 weeks. I’m waiting for one other sign besides the darn pressure and contractions before rushing in where the nurses pretty much know me by name by now. :) thank you for the support though; it means a lot!

I would just go in. 5 minutes is close enough. Go in.

Regardless, you should go in. Sometimes call backs can take longer and you don't want to risk anything. Call the hospital and ask to get transferred to OB. Honestly though, since you're contracting every five minutes, I would go and get admitted. The worst they can do is send you home.

Please just remember that anything before 37 is premie medically so maybe just give them a call and make sure they wouldn’t rather you come in (: ( unless they’ve told you otherwise! ) not to be a negative Nancy just cautious as my last came at 37 and he still had to have a stay in the nursery and get a little help. I wish you all the best however!
