My husband is an accidental asshole. He is the sweetest man in the world most of the time, but he has this habit of saying things in just the wrong way. What he says isn't mean in and of itself and he doesn't mean for it to sound the way it comes out. He catches it now because he notices my face and then he'll explain better what he meant. Or he'll grab ice cream or candy or something to share with everyone and it will have peanut butter in it; I hate peanut butter, but it's so universally liked that it's easy to forget someone doesn't like it. If it could kill me, I'm sure it wouldn't slip his mind. 
He's never been deliberately an asshole or hurtful to me and he's never done or said something that cause irreparable damage.
