Thigh tattoo?

Question

I've never had a tattoo before, but I've been thinking about getting one. I'm kinda worried about the pain although I know it will be worth it, what does it feel like? I've been considering one on my ankle or my thigh. Feel free to tell me your stories, tips or show off your tattoos.

The pain honestly is bearable. Annoying, but bearable. The most accurate description I’ve had someone tell me was that it felt like “stabbing yourself with a mechanical pencil and then dragging it along your skin.” So, shitty, but not horrible haha 
If you’re really nervous then I would go with the thigh. Anywhere bony hurts like HELL. I had my foot and ankle done a couple months ago and omg I will never get my other foot done. Ever. Right now I’m in the process of getting my back done and anywhere boney hurts the worst compared to the rest.

I like to listen to podcasts while I get tattooed to distract me, and I find that destroying someone else’s hand helps too 😂😂

Mine is in the outer part of my thigh it is my first and only tattoo. Not sure if I want more, not because of pain just if you want quality you have to spend decently but still worth it. I love my tattoo wish it was bigger

I just finished mine in November. It didn’t hurt so much as take forever with the amount of detail. Bringing my phone and headphones to zone out with helped.

It really depends on where on your thigh you want the tattoo. Size and the amount of detail matters too but not as much as location. I have 3 on my thighs and they were all very different experiences.

This was my first thigh tattoo. I'd say it was the least painful of all my tattoos combined.

This piece ended up taking two sessions-the first being something like 5.5 hours where the artist did the line work, shading, and started coloring. I went back a few weeks later for an hour session to finish up the coloring. By far the most painful and worst healing process. It's on the side of my right thigh and parts of the top got pretty close to my butt which was not pleasant at all.

This one is on the back of my left thigh and isn't finished. I can't remember how long it took but it was pretty unpleasant too. The top is just below my butt and the bottom is right in my knee pit. This was the second most painful tattoo I have.

I have 4 (arm, behind my ear and two on my back). Everybody told me not to get my first tattoo on my spine because of the pain but I honestly found it quite relaxing. Even the colouring! Try not to be put off by the idea of the pain because once it’s done you’ll love it!!

Mines actually not what I wanted so I’m getting a cover up soon, but it didn’t hurt at all really. I don’t mind going back to get it covered up.

Go with the thigh instead of the ankle for your first. I’ve got both of mine done (3-1/2 hours each) and it hardly hurt at all. I’ve got one that goes into the ankle and it hurt like a bitch.

Here's my newest one on my upper thigh. There were some parts that really made me cringe, but some that just felt like a cat scratch (pun intended lol). It really does depend on each person, but I personally thought it was more painful than my rib ink.

I have a garter belt around mu thigh. The part that hurt was the inner part. The front not at all and the back hurt but wasn’t unbearable. My mom has one tattoo in her ankle right we’re the bone is I don’t recommend that. Anything we’re the bones is right under the skin hurts. Fingers, foot, rubs, ankle.
