Idk, some people say “I did it and it was fine” but it’s really not recommended due to the possibility of the head leaning forward and causing the trachea to be pinched off and leading to suffocation. That’s why it’s recommended for the lowest risk of SIDS for babies to sleep only on their back and only on a flat surface. Just because others have done it with no issue doesn’t mean it’s not riskier than the recommended way. Good luck! I know it’s tempting to do just about anything to get them to sleep!!

My four babies have slept more than 30 minutes in a car seat, and bouncers, and swings, and are healthy happy and thriving and have proved all these over protective parents wrong. Sometimes you just need them to sleep, and you have to Do what you gotta do, if you need to. What did mothers do before all these rules? oh, ya.. we all survived and had happy childhoods with loving good parents.

Is it a Rock n Play? Technically no...but a LOT of people do, especially for reflux babies who need the incline. Hell, people let babies sleep in car seats and swings and boppies even though that's not recommended either. They're supposed to be flat on their backs on a flat, firm surface, but I, like a whole lot of other moms here will tell you, that's not always easy to get them to do. My doctor knew my baby was sleeping in his Rock n Play and never took an issue with it. When my baby got too big, he moved into the Pack n Play to sleep. All that being said, he sleeps in the same room as me, and I'm a crazy paranoid mom who does check on him very frequently whenever he sleeps, wherever it is!

The position is similar to a car capsule so I don’t see a issue, maybe just keep checking on him or once he’s asleep transfer him to the cot?
