Are tongue web piercings bad for gums?

I've heard that tongue piercings can erode gums and I was wondering if tongue webs did the same?

As long as the jewelry is fitted properly and not too big and you don’t play with it you should be fine. Consider plastic ends or another material instead of stainless steel or metals to avoid tooth/gum decay

I’ve had mine pierced since May and it’s never caused me any problems! It’s one of my favorite piercings I have. The healing time is so quick as long as you keep it clean! It didn’t hurt to get pierced, my lobes hurt more. I wear just a clear plastic retainer in mine just so Incase it does rub against my teeth it’s less likely to chip them! But I would definitely recommend this piercing!
