Afraid of the vacuum?

Yes to the touching and seeing it for a while before it comes on! My daughter is 17 months and hated it for a long time, but when I tried warning her and letting her see it was coming out of the closet, she wanted to touch it and help me plug it in. When I am about to turn it on, I make a buzzing sound so she knows it's coming, and that works pretty well. I also spent a while holding her in one arm while vacuuming with the other until she seemed like she could deal with it.

My 8 month old screams like his arms are getting ripped off if you even bring it out of the closet. My husband is a construction worker and my father is a truck driver so both bring in ridiculous amounts of dirt daily. We've tried everything to help him get over the vacuum phobia but he just cries and screams and crawls away from you as fast as he can at the first sight of the vacuum. I feel like this has started quite early and I dont know how to help him get over this fear. I've resulted to making my husband take him to run errands in between cleaning so we can get the house vacuumed once a week.

my girl has been afraid since day 1. She seems sensitive to loud noises so I try to vacuum as little as I can get away with and as fast as I can lol. sometimes I sweep the carpet to spare an out real...she enjoys chasing the broom too lol

My 18 month old is starting to get a little afraid of vacuums. He absolutely freaked out when I use the meat grinder the other day. You could try leaving it out like in a corner or up against a wall so that it's more of a normal thing. My little guy, even though he's scared of the vacuum, loves it if I let him help vacuuming. I don't think that would work for you yet but try with baby steps  make it a fun thing. Start by just having it out then maybe play a fun game close to the vacuum. Let him touch it and feel it. Most kids are very interested in things that they aren't allowed to have 😉 so maybe getting a chance to play with it while it's off could help break that fear. 💕
