Maternity Leave.. When's a good time?

When's a good time to take Maternity Leave? I'm thinking 38 weeks. I only get 6 weeks of leave, so I'm trying to splurge all the time I can to be with baby. I should also mention that I'm going to be a FTM and have no clue what to expect 😧

Not going a day before baby comes unless medically necessary. I want as much time with baby as possible, and can’t afford to take any time unpaid 😣

Well if you’re a first time mom and only get 6 weeks and let’s say you don’t have the baby until 40 weeks then 4 weeks is not enough time at home with the baby. Figuring out breastfeeding is hard, you have to take your baby to the doctor a lot, what if you have problems? Also most first time moms without any issues go late. Some doctors will let you go up to two weeks late. I will tell you as miserable as I was the end if oregnancy, it was nothing compared to how much I needed to physically and emotionally heal after the baby was born. It’s hard to recover from. I know you’re scared to work up until the baby is born but that’s what you should do with such little time off. You will make it to the hospital just fine and not many people go into labor while they’re at work. Even if you start to think you might be going into labor you 99% still have enough time to probably go home first and meet up with your SO. If you don’t then did you know you can get a police escort to the hospital? You don’t have. To pay for an ambulance 😜. And I’m willing to bet a coworker will even drive you. I feel like you would regret not going until the last minute. Also, you might want to wait and see what your doctor says. They’ll start checking you internally around 36 weeks. You’ll know by 38 weeks if you’re making any progress.

With my first who is now 13 months old I worked right up until I had her. I will do the same with this baby.  I think as long as you’re feeling up to it you should work as long as possible so you have more time with your little one!

I’m a FTM taking 6 weeks as well and personally I’m working until I go into labor but I have an office job so I’m sitting pretty much all day. I’m nervous that my water is going to break at work lol but I want to spend as much time with my little man as possible!

I get 6-8 weeks paid (I have the sick time for 6, 8 if I use my vacation time) and doc has already said I'll probably be induced march 1-9 (due the 15th) so I just told my boss today to just not schedule me for march and we'll play it by ear if need be...

I’m due March 28th with my third. Taking my leave March 16. Doing 6 weeks and than 6 weeks of bonding. My job said they’d pay me the 2 weeks I take before my due date. I’m a teacher and have 35 kids.

I took one week off before my daughter was born with a 6 week maternity leave. I sooo regretted it. I got a lot done to prepare for her but I really wish I would have had that extra time with her.
