I’m struggling guys...
I know this was such a bad habit to start and it’s biting me in the behind now. My almost two year old will only lay down for bed or a nap with a bottle. Yes, a bottle. She has been drinking out of a sippy cup since before she was one but would only drink water and to this day she will only accept water out of her sippy cup. I have experimented with several different kinds including her favorite character to try and get her to drink milk out of the cup but she refuses!
My biggest issue is her needing to have a bottle to go to bed with. We have been doing a routine at night bath, milk (bottle) while reading a book, and then bed for about 4 months now. When we finally put her into bed she screams her head off yelling for another bottle. It gets to the point where she makes her self throw up every single time every night.
What do I do guys? One I need to get rid of the bottles completely - it’s hard because her younger sister (10 months) drinks from a bottle and she wants to do everything she’s doing. Now my youngest will drink from a sippy but not entirely yet, but working on it.
And two how in the heck Can I get her to go to bed without it? Again guys going on 4 months and it’s not working with whatever I try. Yes, I end up giving it.. horrible I know. The doctor told me to just cut it cold turkey and let her cry. I would be afraid that she would dehydrate herself.. then again she would literally cry all night or continue to make herself throw up.
I’m really struggling. Any tips hints... I feel like I’ve tried everything..
