I'm 40 weeks tomorrow I had a cervical exam today and since then I have been having mild contractions every 10 min could the exam put me in labor

yeah it can be possible, i was 41 weeks and had a examination and she did a sweep and the next day my plug came out and contractions started. but its also possible for it to bring on false labour (braxton hicks) or just cramping in general. so keep tracking them and see what happens. good luck
