When does the startle reflex stop?

My guy still jolts himself awake when not swaddled. Always raising his legs up the rubbing his face and gouging his eyes pretty much. When does this stop ? Please tell me they grow out of it??  He’s almost 15 weeks and I’m still swaddling in a SwaddleMe

So, rubbing his eyes isn't part of the startle reflex. Babies rub their faces to soothe themselves. My six month old still startles himself awake, occasionally. I was concerned and then realized, adults still do this once and a while. 😊

Swaddling doesn’t really help them learn not to. Try removing one arm at a time from the swaddle during naps.

It depends... preemie babies take even longer. If you’re concerned, talk to their doctor since it can be a sign that there’s something wrong. However, 15 weeks is still in the normal window as it can go away from 3 to 4 months of age.
The 4th month ends when baby turns 5 months.
