Name change?

My son is 3 years old and he is a junior (named after his dad) his dad has not being in his life at all he left when my son was 9 months old. I get no child support from him or anything. Only my baby dads mom and older brother help me do anything. Is it too late for me to change my sons name? My sons name is William Terrell Jr. last name starts with (T) I will change it to Christian Que (pronounced like the letter Q) last name will be mine started with (M)

I wouldn’t change his first name but I think you could change his last name with no issues. Most kids don’t even start to learn their last names until around now.

Well since he’s 3 I think it would confuse him. And if dad is on birth certificate then I’m pretty sure he would have to sign for it.

I would change it. We changed my middle daughter’s name at 9 years old. I felt bullied when she was born to not give her the name I wanted. Also I was adopted at 9. My name was changed. It totally was not hard at all since I’ve been through it myself. I still am legally changing my name because I didn’t like my first name. Still not hard. I would change it if it were me and not even feel bad about it. But that’s because of my history with name changes lol.

I think it might confuse him as he already knows his name but it’s entirely your choice although if father is on birth certificate he would have to agree I think x

If you were going to cannge it I would leave his first name the same. My nephew is 4 and technically he’s a 4th but he’s called something completely different. Around 3 they tried to just tell him what his real name was and he threw a fit saying that was not his name. Soooo I think it would be really really hard on him to change his first name.
