I've been talking to a guy that I've totally got the hots for, he makes me laugh till I cry and has been An amazing help to my mental health, super caring. I'm 19 and hes 28. We are super happy together, I'm just worried about my parents. They absolutely want nothing to do with him and keep telling me he's not good for me? We've been talking about 2 months now, and he was talking about going on a date soon. This man makes me really really happy...any advice? 
UPDATE: he decided he wasn't happy and that the age gap was getting to him so he broke up with me and got back with his ex. It makes me happy knowing you all have found love. 💕 I'll find it some day

Have you asked your parents what it is that they don’t like about him? If I were you I would do this. I’m 28 years old and at your age I dated an older guy and my parents didn’t like him but I thought he was great and continued the relationship only to later find out that he was very controlling. Sometimes parents see things that we cannot which is a huge lesson that I learned but as adults we sometimes want to figure things out on our own.

I was 18 and my boyfriend was 26 when we started dating. my mother was against me dating him because of our age gap and said she couldn't understand what an older man could want from someone so much younger. I told her I understood but was going to continue dating him. it caused some issues in the relationship (between me and my mother) in the beginning, but here we are almost 5 years later and I swear she loves my boyfriend more than me. she always says how he's the best thing that could have ever happened to me and we are cooking up her first grandchild now and she is over the moon. to me an age gap means nothing, we might have an 8 year age difference but not even his closest friends knew I was 8 years younger for the longest time because I'm not like a lot of people my age. I say go for it if you think this relationship is something special and hopefully your parents will come around and see the amazing things you see him and end up loving him like my mother did with my boyfriend.

I'm 29 and my boyfriend is 39. I've dated men my age and it just never felt right. There are some struggles with such a big age gap, but it shouldn't discourage you completly. I have never been happier, I know he's the one. Let your parents get to know him so they can see what you do.
