Help Ladies!!! How Many Ladies Have Kids Who Have Or Had Speech Delay? My Son Is 2 And Is Behind On His Speech! He Recently Started Speech Therapy But I'm Curios How Many Of Yalls Kids Are Doing It And Who Have Been In It, How Quick Did They Bounce Back, How Behind Were They? Please Let Me Know! 😊

my son has speech apraxia. We've been in speech for about a year and he's made so much progress and improvements. It didn't start right away and he's still not where most almost four year old's are but at two and 9 months he was only saying look and light. now he knows all his letters, colors, abcs and single digit numbers. don't get discouraged if it doesn't happen right away or if it takes a lot of work. every kid is different! good luck mama!

my 5 year old daughter had a late start talking. I wasn't worried but thought I'd go to an expert. she's has speech therapy since she was 18 months. she has made incredible progress and I am so proud of how she talks now. she is in speech therapy in kindergarten and still making strides!  good luck mamas!  :)

I’m a speech therapist who works in Early Intervention. It really depends on the child and if there are other developmental issues, such as short attention span, hard time following directions, etc. I’ve had kids catch up to their peers in 4-6 months and others had to go on to their school districts programs when they turned 3.

my son is speech delayed as well. his therapist thought he may be autistic, but we got him checked out and he ia not. Anyway he has been in therapy dor a littler over a year. He went from not speaking at all to knowing over 50 words and saying some phrases. He is about to turn 3 and we still have alot of worj to do so he can catch up with his pears but he has grown so much. I know irlts scary and defiantly hard at times but just keep working with him

My son will be 3 in April. He didn’t start walking until 1 1/2 and still isn’t really talking. He has speech therapy, occupational therapy and a feed specialist every week. We found that that he has Hypotonia (low muscle tone). So his jaw is very weak and he was refusing to eat anything crunchy. We are now able to get him to eat some crunchy foods to strengthen his jaw but with major distraction (playing with toys). This will help his speech. You need a strong jaw in order to pronounce words. We found this out from his feed specialist. She noticed that he was taking a long time to chew things. She said he was fatiguing quickly because it was a lot of work for him. Do some research on low muscle tone. It ties in with eating and speech. 
Florida has early steps, which is what my son is in. They do an evaluation and if they qualify, they send a therapist to your home to work with your child and it is all paid by the state. Check to see if your state offers this.
