QUESTION: Which birth control option should I go with?! Are you guys on any type of BC? How long have you been on it and what have you experienced with it? BACKSTORY: Long story short, I'm dating a man that has 3 kids (13, 8, and 3) and we want to have sex. We've had the "adult" conversation and now I'm thinking ... I haven't had kids yet (not ready quite yet) and he doesn't want to have more right now (and he's obviously fertile af). He asked me if I've ever been on birth control and I told him I have back on college but I gained a lot of weight nd hormones were crazy. I'm really thinking about going through with BC, he makes me happy and I can see myself with him in the long run.

If you can't do hormones (I can't) you could get the paragard. I had it for 2 years, got it out, got pregnant! Only issue was mild cramping constantly and bad cramping for period but honestly I plan on getting it back in because a) it lasts 12 years now and b) NO HORMONES!! I can deal with some pain for no weight gain, mood swings, other miscellaneous side effects haha

I ran through every BC on the market and ended up really loving my Nexplanon implant. I had one for three years, had it replaced, took it out after two years to start TTC and was pregnant two months later. Don't let the insertion process put you off of checking into it. So worth it!

Talk to your doctor about all of your options. There are so many. In the meantime, use spermicide and condoms.

I agree. Do some research and figure out what's best for you. I was messed up beyond repair after years of BC so my husband and I agreed double barrier method and charting will work for us.

Well, what are you most comfortable with? I'm not on any, so I'm of no use there. are you comfortable with an IUD? one of my sister's has been using that. used it for 5 years, got it out, got pregnant, and back with it. if not, maybe a different pill, like the mini? there's also the arm implant, or the nuva ring. my best advice is if any of those are of interest, go speak with a doctor, get pamphlets, read them over and ask all kinds of questions.
