The opioid epidemic vs. the crack epidemic?

I’m not trying to put two drug epidemics against each-other because I know they are both terrible, however there are some people that do. It’s no secret that when crack first came out it really impacted black community and other POC in poorer communities. I was having this discussion with a few family members and my uncle who is very anti-white in a sense, went on this rant about the crack epidemic and how the government didn’t really take it as serious as the opioid epidemic because the opioid epidemic mostly effects the white population (I don’t know how factual this is as I haven’t done any research, these are just his words.) I was thinking about it and I wanted to know what you all think. Again, I didn’t do research so I don’t know what drug effected what race the most.
