Baby shower?

Has anyone ever done a long distance baby shower? My fiance and I are expecting our first, but we live in North Carolina and majority of our family lives in New York. We're not sure if we'll be able to make it up there do have a shower and were thinking about a long distance one. Anyone ever been in a similar situation? What did you do?

My eldest sister had one where my mom hosted, and opened the gifts, and all of that while my sister was on a webcam. then my mom sorted, shipped, or stored everything for my sister until she was able to make it down. We think it made people feel like they were actually attending a shower and not just sending gifts. Ive also heard of grandmother baby showers when the mother is too far, which would basically be the same thing just gifts addressed/geared towards grandma.

This is unrelated but I saw on your bio that your wedding date is July 29th, 2018 and mine was July 29, 2017! Also me and my husband are from California but are also currently living in North Carolina and struggling with whether we are going to register anywhere and have a long-distance shower. I'm doing a long distance one I'm in Texas and my family is in Michigan and they all have my registry link and they are sending me things and also doing books and decorating blocks for her room and I will be video chatting with them
