My first OB visit concerned me
This past Wednesday I went to my first OB visit and I’ve got very mixed opinions about it. It’s making me wonder if I’m right to be annoyed or just overreacting. My normal doctor was in the middle of delivering a baby so I had to see a woman in his practice. They had me pee in a cup to take the normal pregnancy test. They done the standard pap smear and then she asked when my last period was. I explained that my last “period” was a week late and it was extremely light and lasted for 5 days. She said it was probably implantation bleeding and that my October period was my last normal one so I’m probably 12 weeks pregnant. I asked if she was going to do an ultrasound to check since we didn’t know for sure and she said no. I was disappointed but knew that would be a possibility. I just figured they’d do one to find out how far along I actually am. They also drew blood which I figured would be to check my HCG levels and when I asked she said that they weren’t even going to check them. I may be wrong but I thought it’s pretty standard especially when you don’t know exactly how far along you are that they either do an ultrasound or at least check your HCG levels. So I left the doctors office not knowing if everything is okay and my next appointment was made for 2 weeks later. I may be overreacting but it bothered me that they didn’t really check anything. Is this normal or should I find a different OB?
