I'm 23...24 in 9 days but I have been on birth control for nine years. I have never used tampons until recently. I just overflowed one today. How do you know when it's full? I change every time I got to the bathroom. I felt real bad cramps but I just thought it was because of my period. How do you know when it's full?

The rule of thumb is that you need to change your tampon every 4-8 hours, and you need to use the right absorbency depending on your flow. I usually use regular at the very start, but as it gets heavy I change to super, then towards the end I switch back to regular/light. Hope this helps a bit.
