House Inspection! Questions!
Okay, so weird question but I really need an answer ASAP from anyone who actually sells or buys houses.
So my parents are in the middle of buying the house we live in for ten years now. They literally only owe $8,000 and the house is theirs. They are clear in Portland right now working one of my dad’s jobs. Apparently he’s a little behind on his payment. No clue.
Anyway, today I heard some rustling of leaves outside my bedroom window. I didn’t think anything of it because my dogs didn’t go off and figured it was a cat or something. But the rustling wouldn’t stop or go away for about 5 minutes. The dogs finally went off and that was it. Rustling done and over with. I went on with my day.
I just got a call from my mom saying the guy we are buying the house from said he’s coming over some day this week to inspect the house. No big deal. We can pass a house inspection. But why? Why now? I’m positive that was him standing outside my bedroom window “inspecting” from the outside in and I’m 1,000% not okay with this man being in my house at all.
There’s no way my parents will or can be down here during the inspection. He is very aware of the fact that it is my brother, boyfriend and I staying in the house for well over a years now while my parents are away. He is a drunkard who comes to our house at random times of the day asking for money even if he was just paid because he doesn’t remember being paid.
Is it legal for him to be able to come to and in the house if I say no? He told my parents it could be any time this week. No time. No actual date. Just this week. We all work so there’s not even a guarantee anyone will be home when he does so could he enter without us being there? Not to mention he told my parents, who, fairly, are his actual tenants. But not us, the people actually in the house and the ones he will be dealing with during said inspection.
I’m terrified of being the one alone in the house with this man. Anyone who has answers please feel free to share!
