Any instances out there where a baby did ‘fix’ a marriage??

I’m curious to know. I feel like my marriage is struggling 😒 and we have a baby on the way 💙

Unfortunately babies aren’t bandaids. I think some people think a baby is going to cover or fix the underlying problems that are there, but they don’t. If anything it’s only temporary.

I really don’t think it will. Babies are a lot of work and having a true teammate on your side makes it a little easier. I don’t know your situation, or the specifics of why your marriage is struggling, but perhaps counseling might work? Good luck, momma 🙂

No, if anything a baby will cause more stress on a failing marriage. All the teamwork it takes of baby care, feeding, changing, doctor visits, etc are so much more manageable when you have a strong partnership.

No, I'm sorry to be a downer. My sister and her ex husband decided to have a baby and the entire family was shocked that my niece was planned because their marriage was falling apart. My only advice is once you have your baby, make an effort to fight as little as possible in front of him/her. My niece was and still sometimes is TERRIFIED and I mean like PETRIFIED of loud noises because my sister and her husband would scream and swear in front of my niece as a newborn. My niece is getting much better, but it's taken 3 years for her to adjust just to her immediate family.

in my experience, no. especially if (heaven forbid) your baby has any complications it'll put more strain on your marriage. my husband and I have never been tested so much in our lives.

Personally, no. I know 3 couples, 2 of which decided to have a baby as a last resort (they wanted children anyway) and all it did was make it harder on their family and problems. Seek counseling before the baby gets here, it will hopefully make things less strenuous.
