Am I wrong?

From the day I found out I was pregnant I told all my family and friends I didn’t want them all round for the first week after delivery so we can get into a routine. It’s our first baby and took 4 years to conceive due to fertility issues and his family are very over bearing and bring all 8kids! That will want to hold our little boy. Am I wrong for saying I don’t want then here the first week? Also my partner is only having the first week off work as we can’t afford 2 weeks unpaid. Happy voting xx

We already discussed with my husband’s large family we are only having immediate family at the hospital: my parents, in laws, and siblings. 
All have to be vaccinated with TDAP and flu and we’re not allowing our 4 year old and 2 year old nephews to hold him bc they carry so many germs from their daycare and constantly get everyone sick. 
It’s much better to preface everyone ahead of time than turn them away the day of. You’re totally in the right for however you want your day/week/etc to be.

We're doing the same and it's our first baby. I already told my family no one is allowed to visit at the hospital when I have her so I can rest and breastfeed. I'm not even going to say when I go into labor or when my baby is born. It's our special time together and the other family can wait! We've waited for a long time for our baby and I could care less if it hurts someone's feelings. My sister is having a cow about it but oh well. I'm not even going to post it on social media either.

My in laws and my mom are it other than myself and husband obviously for the first two weeks or so. I’m going to be extremely picky. The flu has already made its way around our house and my in laws so I’m not worried about that at least.

we're naturally private people and won't have people staying w us or hanging out a lot. but we're also just respectfully asking people that due to it being winter/flu season, if they or anyone they've been around has had a fever or any symptoms to postpone their visit.

You are in no way wrong. Take all the time you need before having anyone come visit. It took us about the same amount of time to conceive our first little boy and we allowed some visitors (my parents, siblings w/ spouses, grandparents), and even with those few it was stressful. I don't want to say I regret having visitors but I learned my lesson lol. Our next baby boy is due within the next 37 day and we won't be allowing any visitors until about a week after he is born. My parents will bring our almost 3 year old to meet his baby brother but they are they only exception.

Only people who are tdap and flu vaccinated are welcome up to 8 weeks.  
In the hospital we will have my sister and my mother once baby is here then nothing until we figure out the routine.  We will obviously have people but nothing unvaccinated until baby reaches week 8

A week is totally reasonable it's the ones wanting to wait a month or two that's annoying especially since they grow so fast then. Not to mention people come see early then stop showing anyways usually.
