Confused ??

Question

How do y'all know how much your baby weighs , etc ??? I haven't had an ultrasound since about 20 weeks when I found out I was having a girl. Every time I go to an appt they just put measuring tape on my belly and say "perfect". Why does my doctor not tell me how much she weighs or even have a way about measuring her ??? :/ should I be worried ?

They can only estimate the baby’s weight by measuring the femur length in an ultrasound. Sometimes their estimates can be WAY off. It’s based on averages. If you have a long slender baby they may estimate him/her at 10lbs and the baby be born only weighing 7lbs. It’s not something you should worry about.

same here all she does is measure my stomach & tells me everything is okay. I'm having an ultrasound this Thursday so I will ask.

I'm in the same boat but it's never dead on, it can always be plus or minus 3 so I would guess most don't worry about a number as long as you're measuring correctly:)

At my 34 week apt last week I had a sonogram and baby measured 6lbs and 11oz. They said if she goes to 40 weeks she will be almost 10lbs. They are give me another sonogram at 38 weeks to remeasure her size. If she measures over 9lbs they will induce me at 39 weeks. I’m afraid for my Vagina, I don’t want to push out a 10 pounder......

The only reason I know an estimate is because I have been having biophysical profiles (ultrasound) since 28 weeks due to complications.
Fundal(I think that’s the term?) height is tracking the growth of the baby.

I only know because I have had monthly growth scan via ultrasound because of highblood pressure I'm 37+3 and last week was my last growth scan and baby was estimated at 6.8lbs

I’m 33 weeks, my doctor took 1 ultra sound at 30 weeks (last time I saw her was 20 weeks). I’m not having anymore ultrasounds unless I’m not measuring correctly or something is wrong. With my first their weight /size guesses were way off
