FTM here... Induction?

Question

I'm due on Sunday the 14th. But I'm being induced Friday morning the 12th. What is it like? What happens exactly? How does it make me go into labor more? Im in early labor now, but not active labor so hospital sent me home.  3cm dilated.

It is different for everyone. If you are already dilated and soft they will probably just start with pitocin. You could also ask what your Bishop score is which helps to know the likelihood of successful induction. Although I’ve had one induction with a very low bishop score which was eventually successful (two days and lots of steps before they got me in labor) and one with a very favorable bishop score which was also successful but much much easier. For some women pitocin is immediately very painful and intense, for me it just makes my contractions regular and sort of like menstrual cramps. They may break your water at some point. You should know that once your water breaks (whether in natural labor or artificially) everything becomes much more intense and uncomfortable. Some women who are induced things go very very quickly and sometimes it’s a very slow process. If you are in early labor it seems likely you will have a successful induction. Good luck!

It can honestly be different for everyone. My dr explained it like a hill and your body gets up the hill slowly but with being induced you just start at the very top of the hill. Good luck mama
