Is it rude to have a baby shower for a second and third kid (or more)?

If someone else wants to throw you one, I wouldn’t say no 🤷‍♀️ but I wouldn’t throw it for myself. I think celebrating your baby is awesome and all babies should be celebrated, but I do see where 2+ traditional baby showers could come off as greedy. Maybe have a “baby-cue” or “gender reveal party” instead? Where gifts are optional.

I don't think it's 'rude' per se but I felt uncomfortable having another "buy me stuff and pamper me" party since my kids are kind of close in age. I had my mom host a meet the baby party after baby was born so the focus wasn't on me and gifts (even though people brought gifts), my toddler and husband were there so it was really a celebration of the family. But no holding baby except us and grandparents.

I don’t see why it’s rude? If your family and friends are close to you I don’t see why they would mind a baby is a blessing and many people love to celebrate

every baby should be celebrated but I think if youre having a boy & have had baby showers for previous boys then it shouldn't exactly be a baby shower. I'd do a diaper shower instead unless it's stuff you NEED like clothes or whatever.

For me it’ll be 10 years and 3 months since our last child was born. We have basically nothing except a pack n play. If someone offers to, I’ll take it. If not, not a big deal. Always get so many presents once the baby is brought into the world.

it's never a good idea to throw one for yourself but if someone offers then I don't see anything wrong with it, especially if it's a new gender. I am having my second and a friend has offered to throw me a "sprinkle" this usually consists of smaller gifts or I think we will go with just diapers and wipes since you always need those! I am having the same gender as my first as well so won't need any of the clothes. I have another friend who someone threw one for her and it was asked that guests just bring their favorite children's book as a gift. it's a way to celebrate the new life without going overboard.
