Gallbladder Attacks vs Labor. Which was worse for you?

Curious to see if anyone has had experience with both and can tell me which is worse? I've had 3 attacks that lasted 5 hours straight and it felt like I was having a heartattack for that long, and suffocating. I've seen on other forums where women say they would choose giving birth over gallbladder attacks any day but wanna know what it was like for others here. 💙

I've had 6 vaginal unmedicated deliveries and I'd have them all over again instead of having a gallbladder attack.

I haven’t gone through labor, my husband and I are just now starting TTC but this is such a validating post, and Cathy’s response as well.
I had gallbladder attacks for almost 2 years. I was told to just suck it up and that it was probably stress from wedding planning. My PCP and 2 separate emergency room doctors refused to do a simple ultrasound because I was seeing “the best” gastroenterologist in Oregon who also refused to do an ultrasound and they trusted her decision that it wasn’t my gallbladder.
I was in such severe pain I lived off of broth for 4 months and I don’t remember those two years very well (which sadly includes my wedding, planning my wedding, and my bridal shower etc). It got to the point where I had passed out from the pain and my husband took me to the emergency room and Again they refused to do an ultrasound and he Flipped out and said we weren’t leaving until they did one. That was a Friday and my gallbladder was out by Wednesday.
Anyway, this was a lot of TMI and I’m sure for many women labor was worse as I’d like to think gallbladder problems don’t go on as long for other people but the fact that someone is even asking this question is so validating after being told for two years that my pain wasn’t that bad, that I was over dramatic and just stressed about planning my wedding 😒.

I almost died from galstones getting stuck and dear god the pain. I remember going to the hospital and laying in the bed thinking "make it end. drugs, death. I don't care which just make it stop" way worse than my labor pains.

haven't had labor yet, but watched my husband go through gal stones. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. 😮 he is not one to complain ever or even say something hurts. he would work through the flu. 😂 but man, he woke me up and told me he wanted to go to the hospital when he had gal stones and we swapped him onto 3 different pain killers at the hospital when the morphine stopped touching the pain and right before they took him back for surgery none of them would touch it the pain. :( he was getting mad that it hurt so much. 😂

Gallbladder pains are AWFUL to were literally you can’t move or walk. So If your unsure which Is which I would get checked to be on the safe side!

gallbladder attacks were so much worse! I had them while I was pregnant too. labor only last so long and gallbladder attacks just keep coming .

I also want to make people aware that your pain does not always go away after gallbladder removal. Your liver , strangely, can't keep creating stones and sludge which can get lodged in your common bile duct still. I've had that happen twice since my gallbladder removal one immediately after my gallbladder removal because the surgeon botched the surgery. and once again just a month ago. It is called an ercp procedure which moves the sludge and stones out of the area of blockage at the common bile duct. so if you feel pain after your removal do not think it is all in your head because it isn't find a good gastroenterologist and have them do a follow-up study. and realize please that the gallbladder doesn't just get Stones it has to do with a disorder in your liver so you can end up with what's called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease so you have to have your liver checked as well this information is not to frighten it is to inform

Labor/birth over gall bladder any day! I finally had my gallbladder removed at 15 years old, due to reoccurring attacks and being full of stones. Then to top it off, 2 stones got stuck in my bile duct during the removal. I am so thankful I don’t have to worry about that bugger anymore! I wish you the best with whatever your situation is! 🤞🏼

This is a tough one for me, I had one gallbladder attack when I was 17, I basically laid on the floor of the bathroom sobbing & vomiting for about 4 hours, the pain was as bad as the appendicitis I’d had about 4 months prior, I have Crohn’s Disease & when we were sure this attack was my gallbladder my Gastroenterologist said “We might as well take it out ‘cause you’re just going to have more attacks” The same surgeon who removed my appendix did the gallbladder removal too, Just last year I had my one & only child, the pain of labor wasn’t as bad as appendicitis or gallstones but my labor was soooo long so it’s like I’m comparing 18 hours of 8 on the pain scale (total labor was 52 hours so I’m counting from when it got bad to when I got the epidural) to 4 hours of 10 on the pain scale, I guess for me labor was worse
