Planning a wedding: get a videographer ???

Personally, I would rather spend the money on a really good photographer.

We spent A Lot on our wedding photos. They were the one area I felt comfortable on splurging and they are Beautiful. 
Because of that though, we didn’t do a videographer.
If it’s in the budget, I would go for it. I remember so little honestly and it would be nice to look back and even if I only watch it once or twice I would love it if my future kids were able to see it.
That being said, I don’t think it’s a hard necessity. My mother in law just happened to video tape our vows and it means So much for me to have those. So even if you just ask a few people to video the important things, you would definitely be fine. It just won’t look professional.

I don't plan on having one. Everyone I've spoken to watched their video once or twice and that's it. Not worth it in my opinion. 🤷‍♀️

We had both and I really REALLY loved our video! It’s more for you to watch later on down the road...we got married December of 2016 and told our videographer not to worry about finishing it so soon bc we wanted to watch it on our 1 year anniversary! It’s amazing how much changes in a year and it was so good to see one of our family members dancing the night away who recently passed...
It was also nice to see special moments captured on film. My parents absolutely were thrilled with it and are after my brother to do video at his wedding in June now lol. It’s really up to you, but just keep in mind that a good videographer is probably going to cost you another thousand or 2. Ours was $2,600.

I was highly disappointed. We only had one photographer, so a lot was missed. I’d recommend AT LEAST getting a second photographer...but I wish we had a video

We had 2 go pros to capture our entire day. We had one set up where I was getting ready and where my hubs was getting ready. My hubs took his go pro and set it up in the once once we got there. When we got to our reception venue we set up the go pros at our head table and also had one going around on a selfie stick. We literally have the ENTIRE day! The videos are also personalized and in the moment.

Absolutely yes. I have been married a little over 6 years and while I seldom look through all our pictures (we have one or two up on the wall), there is nothing like putting a dvd in the player and seeing my grandfather dancing again, hearing my best man’s toast, and being able to show my sons a glimpse of life “before them”. Photographers can capture a lot but they can’t capture the speeches, the way your voice catches during the vows, or the way the light hit your bouquet during the last turn of your first dance.

I didn’t think it would be worth it and we didn’t get a videographer. I have the most gorgeous photos but I often think it would be so nice to get to watch a video too. Many of my friends have done the videography piece and seeing their videos makes me wish we had booked our own.

We had a film guy friend  and drone footage my brother did, which my husband edited into a series of short videos that came out beautifully. We have one of our pre wedding barbecue, and one of the boat ride we offered the guests before the ceremony. It was in western Norway with really spectacular footage so it looks like some kind of travel ad
