ever given a guy a second chance?

so I've been with my so for a total of roughly five months but back in October he broke up with me to focus on getting his life together and didn't think he could do that and focus on his relationship with me so a couple of weeks go by and he messages me like end of November and asks if we can meet up and talk so long story short I agreed to give him a second chance and I don't regret it nor did I forget how much he hurt me but since getting back together everythings been great he met my family at Christmas all that stuff I love him so much but my question is has anyone else been in this situation where you gave someone a second chance or am I stupid for giving a guy who realized his mistake and admitted that he needs me in his life and he regrets leaving me?
