Definitely a mini crib. A bassinet, while cute just isn’t nearly as practical. It doesn’t last nearly as long (many babies outgrow them by 3 months) so you will have to buy the crib eventually regardless. Plus, eliminating changing environments for the baby to sleep in saves not only your sanity but your babies as well. Sleep transitions suck for everyone involved. If your baby is in a consistent sleep space from day one (ex. A crib or mini crib) they will be used to that and sleep much better than if you switch things up on them.

How small is small? We have 2 babies in regular cribs and a 900sq ft apartment and have no space issues. For space issues I’d say a pack n play would be the best because its great for travel too.

This is dependent on a lot of factors. If small means one bedroom just go ahead and skip to a mini crib because a basinett has a weight limit.

my first child got a super expensive crib. you know the one that you turn into a twin bed frame after a certain age. he used it maybe 7 times didn't work well after I moved because they don't stay in tact for too long after a few rebuilds. instead he slept in a cozy bassinet next to my bed. easy for me, easy for him, and easy on my wallet. wait till you get a bigger place to get a crib if your skeptical because believe me they aren't needed long.

We've bought a moses basket for the first few months. Then we're planning to buy a decent travel cot. A lot of couples that I know did the same. You can put in a decent mattress, and you can fold it away if you need the space during the day.
