My labor and delivery story....a week late 😬
I went in at 38 weeks for my weekly appointment on Friday January 5th and was curious about induction as I haven’t progressed any. I didn’t plan on my doctor saying it was time or that she would recommend it, but I was wrong 🤦🏻♀️ She called the hospital and said they could get my in at 8pm on Saturday the 6th. Holy shit did things get real!!😱 I was not expecting that at all!
Anyways! I went in at 8 and got my first round of cytotec, it wasn’t too bad and my contractions were still about every 4-6 minutes apart. They weren’t too painful yet, but was I in for a long night.......I had the monitors on me and baby, but they had me just put this sleeve thing over them, and they kept moving....all night long. So right as I am about to fall asleep (every single time) the baby monitor would shift so the nurse would have to come and adjust it. I would recommend getting the straps to hold in the monitors.
Anyways again...sorry I’m awful at telling my story 😂 So at midnight I had only progressed to maybe a 2, so they did a second round of cytotec and holy mother did that ramp things up! Big time. From about 2am until 10:45 (push time) I was having contractions every 1-2 minutes and man almighty did I have the worst back labor in the world! 👎🏼 I got a couple doses of pain meds and at 10:00am I demanded the epidural! At the point I was still only a 4, I got the epidural in around 10:15, was checked at 10:30 and was at an 8, I got checked again at 10:45 was at a 10. I literally had no time to enjoy the epidural and rest before pushing.
Once it came time I couldn’t feel a thing. I’ve been told you won’t feel if you’re pushing or not and man were they right. I was just hoping I was pushing hard enough and not just holding my breath😂 So I get her lower and lower and she gets stuck right before my pubic bone. I pushed for 2 hours trying to get little missy unstuck. 🤦🏻♀️ I was so exhausted from pushing and lack of sleep but I was so freakin grateful for that epidural in that moment! Props to all the mommas who have done it naturally!! 🤛🏼👏🏼🙌🏼
My little girl finally came out at 12:44 pm on Sunday the 7th, with the cord wrapped around her neck a couple times. My doctor is so amazing and quick, she let me know everything that was going on but she did so in such a calming way to where I wasn’t stressing out. Once she came out and was free of her cord she was laid on my chest and I could not contain myself! I struggled with depression during pregnancy and was so nervous I wouldn’t feel the connection with her, but as soon as she opened her eyes and looked at me my heart melted and I knew I was in trouble with her 😊💕
Oh!! And I didn’t tear or anything thank the lord! Except I screwed up my tailbone during delivery I think cause I’m in so much pain! But otherwise I am healing so nicely!
Sorry for the long post! But here are some pictures of my little Paisley Mae, she weighed 6 lbs 2 oz, she was 18 inches long and is the light of my life! 😍
