Would you take a taxi alone?

Came across a debate on twitter about females feeling uncomfortable or unsafe taking taxis home alone.

Personally I always avoid it if I can. Might not even go out if I know that will be the only way home.

Luckily a friend lives nearby and her dad will never let me take a taxi alone so will always give a lift. And if I do get a taxi with other friends they will make sure I get out first so I'm not left alone in the taxi, even if their house is closer.
