I got an induction yesterday morning at 7am. I labored without any medication for a large chunk of my labor until the contractions were extremely strong, where they were getting pretty rough and they gave me a dose of painkillers. I slept about an hour woke up to discover I was at a 4. Any progress was still progress so I was happy. I wanted to keep sleeping but the medication was wearing off so my nurse offered me an epidural. I agreed and labored roughly another 45 minutes before I was given the epidural. I was screaming through contractions while trying to hold still for the needle 😂 after I got the epi I slept for another hour or so and when the nurses woke me up and checked me I was at an 8! After another 30 minutes I was checked again and I was fully effaced and dilated. I was shivering uncontrollably. I had 12 heated blankets on me and I was shivering so hard that my muscles were aching. All those hormones. In just a short time later I was beginning to practice a few pushes. I threw up and I was so so thirsty. I started to get a fever but they decided to keep going. Then I was pushing for real. They were so hard to do for 10 seconds 3 times in a row. I was shivering throughout and it sucked. But after only about 30 minutes my baby was crowning and the doctor barely had stepped in before she was falling out. The cord was wrapped around her neck pretty tight but she came out fine, and cried within the first 5 minutes. I’m the first one in my family to give birth vaginally. I’m so excited for my baby girl, Aislynn Mae, weighing 6 lbs 15.4 oz and 20.5 inches long! :)
