Appendicitis while pregnant?

Have you ever had appendicitis while pregnant? What were your symptoms?

I had appendicitis at 12 weeks pregnant.. it started on Sunday night with right side pain by my belly button though maybe it was gas, but being a nurse I knew it was something more but decided to hold off going to the hospital just Incase. I couldn’t sleep at all because it hurt so bad it was a constant dull ache, Monday morning I decided to get I checked out so I went to the ER pain was manageable at the point but the longer I sat there the worse it got. They sent me for an ultrasound thinking it was something wrong with the baby but i knew it wasn’t. Baby was fine and then the decided to send me to another hospital that could deal with me being pregnant a while waiting for the ambulance to transfer me I started throwing up since I was in so much pain. Ambulance finally got there at 11pm and it was an hour and a half to the next hospital. That ride was awful!!! They got me to the next hospital and was able to give me morphine which did nothing for the pain. I wasn’t running a fever but they did a MRI and it came back acute appendicitis. By 6:30am I finally got wheeled into surgery.

Yes!!! I had to have an open appendectomy in November at 25 weeks pregnant it was awful. At first I thought I just had a really bad case of morning sickness. And then I got a pain in my pelvis area on the right hand side. And it felt like I had just pulled a muscle. But it kept getting worse. I tried to take a warm bath thinking that would help, but all it did was make me throw up when I got out of the tub. And I started throwing up and really bad. I tried to go to sleep but the pain got worse. So I eventually called my husband (he works night shift) and he came home got me and took me to the ER. it took a few MRI’s and X-rays to be sure I had appendicitis cause the baby was too big to do an ultrasound at that point to see my bowels. I got to the ER at 3 in the morning. They transferred me to a different hospital with OBGYN specialists and I didn’t get taken down to surgery until 9 at night. You asked for symptoms and somehow I went on a whole rant 😂
