Back to baby food?

Question

My LO has not been eating normal solids for a month now. She used to be a great eater and ate everything given to her.  i still offer all meals to her every day but she ends up throwing a huge tantrum and cries until her face breaks out.  The only thing she will eat is goldfish crackers and greenbeens but i dont want to feed her that all the time. Ive also informed her doctor of this and she doesnt seem concerned because LO is still gaining weight normally.  Ive started to reduce the amount of milk i give her in hopes that it will make her want to eat food.  My question is, does anyone still feed their LOs pureed baby food?  i know that they sell the baby food in stages and there is one for 12 months+.  i am starting to get concerned and impatient and i don't know what  else to do.

She won’t starve herself. She will eat when hungry. My son did that during Christmas and refused to eat anything but “snacks” he would scream for cookies or Cheetos or anything but real food. He ate cereal for a day or two till he realized i wasn’t giving in and then he finally started eating normal again. 
But one night he screamed in the living room till he fell asleep on the floor Bc i wouldn’t give in and give him cookies. It’s just a phase and their way of testing you. It sucked tho Bc some nights he would wake up wanting to eat. But i had to just send him back to bed and come morning he would eat a big breakfast.

I still offer pouches sometimes as an alternative to applesauce or other fruit, especially when on the go... that said, what snacks are you offering? Maybe offer fruit or a veggie or protein, cheese & crackers, crackers with peanut butter? At least something more nutrient dense than something like cookies (I don’t know what you’re offering so if you’re already doing this, good job, keep doing it!). I agree with other posters though... they’ll eat when hungry 😋

Yep! My son loves the pouches and he often asks for them or grabs one off his snack shelf.  Love the convenience and he’s always so proud to hold it and feed himself. We usually let him have one per day, sometimes two depending on if we are out or not. He eats everything under the sun but he def loves the pouches.

I just started seeing a food therapist for my son. Today she had me feed him in front of her and gave me some suggestions. My son first of all has always been bad at eating solids. He has a texture problem with soft and wet foods so he mostly he crackers and crunchy stuff with purées. She suggested giving one item at a time. Too much on a plate can be overwhelming. If he throws whatever on the ground move on to a different texture. She also told me eat along with him and have him mock me. I take a bite and try to see if he will take a bite and so on. And last she told me to let him play with baby forks and spoons, she doesn’t expect him to actually eat with it but to use it for practice and for fun and makes him feel like a big boy.

My daughter still eats purée sometime and she still loves baby cereal. Whatever works mama you are doing great! I do push whole milk all the time, especially when she doesn’t eat much solid. I know it fills me up and I think it’s a good “last option” when she doesn’t eat much of her food. And if she doesn’t eat much I make sure her next snack or meal is within two hours and is something I consider more nutritious/ less snacky.

They go through phases like this. My friends with older toddlers have told me that these phases will happen several times, and they often do it while teething. Just keep offering a variety of food and try to not get frustrated.  
Personally, I couldn't do the "eat this or starve" approach on a toddler. I could continue to offer different healthy things. With that being said, my daughter still nurses, so I don't worry too much about it. Maybe offer her toddler formula until this phase passes, so you know she is getting some nutrients?
A new hit in our house is freeze-dried fruits- she loves the raspberries. 
Also, I take purees and make little drops on wax paper (small enough where choking isnt an issue) and freeze them. They dissolve super quick.  The help her teething gums and offer a good source of nutrition.

:-/ Shes starting to wake up at night now because shes hungry...but i dont give in.  Hopefully this stage goes away soon!  Should i be limiting snacks too in hopes that she will eat her meals??
