Stay at home mom making the sacrifice?

So I just wanted to get some other ladies opinions on this topic. Does anyone feel like they are the one making the sacrifice as a stay at home mom? I love my children and it is fulfilling in its own way. But in a different way then if I was to have a career. I have my bachelors degree and I haven't worked since graduating. I'm 28 I finished school while pregnant and graduated once my son was born. He is now 4 and I have a 5 month old. My boyfriend makes it seem like I am SO lucky. I appreciate all he does for us and he knows that but I never get any appreciation, and honestly I never envisioned that my future career would be a stay at home mom. Any thoughts?

I'll tell you...I'm on the other side of this spectrum. I have a 16 month old and am 18 weeks pregnant. Still working, and I would give an arm to stay home with my babies. We are lucky enough to afford a great school/daycare for them and they will never want for a thing. Financially secure, they both have a significant savings (well significant for a toddler and a fetus 😂). But I can never shake the feeling I'm missing out. I'm sacrificing my babies first years for monetary gain. It's a horrible feeling sometimes.
Maybe, regardless, we as mothers are sacrificing, period. Whichever way we choose, we still feel like we're losing. All we do is work our butts off and try our best 😊

My husband is appreciative. But i understand. I worked as a litigator for over 5 years before i quit to get married and move for my husband’s promotion (promotion my ass 🙄).  I had a stressful pregnancy but had a beautiful son. Before being married,   I was on the partner track and regularly spoke/wrote in my field of law. I feel like ive lost all of that!! The law constantly evolves and i fear i have lost my edge and mylegal acumen.  Guys i began working with are up for partner while i get shit on (literally with my 15 mo son).  Im worried i will start resenting my son and my husband. For those of you wondering, working part time really isnt an option. Litigation is all in (imo).

I wish i had advice for you. Thats one of the reasons i want to reach through the phone and slap these young women on here with baby fever, start your career, be independent!!

Maybe you could find a hobby just for yourself?

Yes, girl Yes! I have moved all over the country to support my husband and his military career, I have put my life on hold to bear his children and for his goals and while I appreciate his hard work it is so exhausting sometimes and just leaves me feeling like such a failure. Don't get me wrong my kids are wonderful and we have our own home and vehicles but I feel unfulfilled and hate relying on him for everything...

I have two bachelor degrees. After I graduated I could never get a job in my field (wonderful economy I graduated into). I spent a year living and teaching in China. Came back and met my now husband (I was 27) within 6 months. We got married the next year (a year to the day I returned from China). Pregnant 8 wks later. I worked while pregnant and tried to work a little after she was born but it never really worked. I enjoy being home. I’ve got 2 under 2 now. And yeah, it’s chaotic and crazy and sometimes stressful but I wouldn’t go to work. I’d rather be here with them. Also I couldn’t get a job making enough to make a profit after paying for daycare for two).

While I do, at times, wish I was working and getting some time away from babies....I know that these little moments and short years go by sooo fast, I plan on soaking it all in while I can! Once my youngest is in school, I'm going back to work and I know I'm going to miss the day lights out of them. I know in my old age I'll be happy to say I was at home raising my babies and spending time watching them grow up rather than being at a job though. It gets stressful and all moms make sacrifices, grass isn't always greener.🙂

You could maybe work part time? I personally have a 4 month old and while I miss him, I teach 21 second graders and am glad I’m able to be a mommy and have a career. All the women in my family have always worked so it seems foreign to me to be a SAHM (there’s nothing wrong with it, though). If you feel this way, maybe look into working.
