We’ll get you a cat since they didn’t give you a baby brother 🙄

So I’m 21 weeks pregnant and we found out last week that we’re having a baby girl. My boyfriend and I ecstatic! My stepson, however, is less than impressed. He hasn’t been very happy about us having a baby from the start, no matter how we try to make him feel special or reassure him that we won’t love him any less.

He seemed as though he might, just might, be okay with the baby if it was a boy, but being as it’s a girl, he doesn’t want anything to do with it. We try to include him in planning and buying things for her, but he just gets upset and says he doesn’t want a sister.

So tonight we find out that his mom got him a kitten to make up for the fact that we aren’t having a boy, to “make him feel better.” So now, not only do we have to deal with the fact that he absolutely doesn’t want a baby sister, we also have to compete with his kitten. I think it’s such a shitty move on her part, when she should be encouraging him to embrace his sister instead.

Anyone else see where I’m coming from? Or am I completely overreacting?
